| Our work involves the development of gene-based probes and therapeutics and applying these entities to functional genomics, inflammatory diseases and tissue engineering. We have developed a rational design algorithm for selecting antisense oligonucleotide inhibitors of gene expression. We are using these inhibitors to modulate integrated molecular systems, such as (1) transcription factors controlling the growth vs. differentiation of hepatocytes and (2) signal transduction pathways controlling the pro- vs. anti-inflammatory properties of corticosteroids.
