BME/CBE professor Ioannis Androulakis and BME graduate faculty member Marianthi Ierapetritou recently received a 3-year $330K award from the Office on Naval Research to pursue their research activities focused on modeling the complexities of biofuel combustion. Their work aims at the development of novel methods for the analysis, representation and reduction of complex reaction mechanisms and exploring their incorporation in realistic computational fluid dynamics simulations. The work focuses on exploring the potential of biofuels as alternative energy sources.
