BME Graduate Student Receives Fulbright Foreign Student Program Travel Award

BME PhD student Cosmas Mwikirize received a travel award from Fulbright Foreign Student Program to attend the 19th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Interventions (MICCAI-2016) which will be held in Athens, Greece. Cosmas proposed a new framework for the enhancement of needle images from ultrasound data based on modeling the signal propagation in the tissue. MICCAI is the highest impact international conference that covers topics such as medical image analysis, biomedical imaging and robotics, and image guided interventions. Cosmas is a member of Computer Assisted Surgery and Therapy laboratory and advised by Dr. Ilker Hacihaliloglu.
