BME Student Led a Team that Built a Prosthesis for Little Girl’s Hand

BME Senior Katherine Lau worked with a team at University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the summer of 2014 to create a prosthetic hand for a 4 year old girl using 3D printing.  The team at UNLV was lead by Dr. Brendan O'Toole, a mechanical engineer, and 3 other students in his lab. Katherine had funding for this summer research project from the Rutgers Douglass Residential College through a longstanding program to support women pursuing degrees and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.  Katherine is currently in the BME BS/MS program in the laboratory of Professor Jeffrey Zahn.  Full article and video update of the little girl can be found here: http://news.rutgers.edu/feature/rutgers-student-led-team-built-prosthesi...
