The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) has been awarded a $393,795 training grant from the U.S. Department of Education program of Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN). The award entitled, "Training Tomorrows Leaders in Biomedical Engineering" will provide 3 full graduate fellowships per year for the next 3 years. The main objective of the program is to increase the number of BME professionals trained in three cutting edge areas (Molecular Systems Biology & Bioengineering, Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine, and Nano- & Microsystems Bioengineering), and to provide them with special enrichment activities in entrepreneurship and commercialization. ProfessorMartin Yarmush serves as principal investigator of the GAANN Program.
