The Biomedical Engineering Department held its first very first student-run BME Symposium on December 13, 2018. The Biomedical Engineering Student Society (BESS) spearheaded the symposium including abstract submissions, choosing if students give a poster presentation or podium talk, as well as many other logistics for the event. 56 undergraduate and graduate students presented their research posters, 11 graduate and post docs gave podium talks, there were 2 keynote speakers and a vendor show featuring 4 companies. Each presenter received a personalized certificate of participation. The best podium presenters were also scored and here are the winners:
1st Place: PhD student Joseph Sherba from Prof. Zahn’s lab
2nd Place: PhD student Rahul Upadhya from Prof. Gormley’s lab
3rd Place (Tie): PhD student Madison Godesky from Prof. Shreiber’s lab and PhD student Cosmas Mwikirize from Prof. Hacihalologlu’s lab
