LCIBs work on Identifying MRI Signatures for Aggressive Prostate Cancer receives Press Coverage

Ongoing work in Dr. Madabhushi's lab on developing computerized image analysis methods for identifying aggressive prostate cancers on MRI was recently featured in a press release. Dr. Madabhushi along with BME graduate student Pallavi Tiwari have been working with Dr. John Kurhanewicz at the University of California San Francisco to develop techniques for identifying high grade prostate cancers using a combination of magnetic resonance spectroscopy and T2-w imaging. On a cohort of 19 patient studies they were able to successfully distinguish low and high grade prostate cancers with an accuracy of over 90%. These findings will be presented by Pallavi at the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Conference in Beijing, China, on Sept. 22. Press release at: http://is.gd/eoLJY
