The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and the Center for Innovative Ventures for Emerging Technologies (CIVET) have been awarded a 5-year $216,000 grant from the NIH for a program entitled "Merging Innovation, Translational Medicine, and Entrepreneurship in Biomedical Engineering Senior Design". The program will offer students didactic clinical and entrepreneurship immersion elements, and provide support to outstanding senior design projects that include clinical collaborators and a pathway to translation and commercialization. The program will be run through the collaborative efforts of BME, CIVET, the Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine, and the Rutgers Business School. Professor Martin Yarmush serves as principal investigator of the program.
