A patent was issued to Professor Martin Yarmush and colleagues entitled, "Isolated Adult Cells, Artificial Organs, Rehabilitated Organs, Research Tools, Organ Encasements, Organ Perfusion Systems, and Methods for Preparing and Utilizing the Same" (US patent number 11136553). The invention describes the development of a multipurpose organ perfusion system. One aspect of the invention provides a method for harvesting adult cells from an organ. Another aspect of the invention provides a method for rehabilitating an organ.
